Helping Others Using Your Creative Skills

So far I have yet to meet a creative person who didn't have a big heart too. There are many ways to help others with your talents and so often these things don't take much time. The following list of organizations can use a HUGE variety of handmade items (knit, crochet, quilt, sew, etc.) that will offer comfort to babies, children, men, women, and animals in need. Plus you probably already have all or most of the supplies in your stash already. Nearly all of these projects have no specific deadline, just on-going requests for donations. There are a couple of organizations listed below that need artwork to raise funds for their cause.

Don't have time but still want to help out? Many can use donations of supplies; your extra fabric, yarn, etc. Don't forget your local animal shelters and zoo; many of them have a continual need for soft blankets for the animals, cage covers, and other items. Before throwing out old blankets, sheets, and towels, check with them.

Carefully review the specific guidelines for a project before starting. Many of these sites have pattern instructions. Completing a project they can really use is the best way for you to help out. Visit Handcrafting With Love which has some excellent tips when making items for charity.

Also you may want to check out some of these books featuring ideas & projects for those who need a helping hand.
