What's Going On In Central New York

Covered Gas Station, Syracuse, NY
April 27th, 2008

Well, it's not just daffodils, tulips and blooming trees that are causing a riot of color in our local landscape this spring! We paid a visit to Jennifer Marsh's International Fiber Collaborative Project in Syracuse, NY today. To see more photos and read all about this amazing display, click here.

The "daffies" as cousin Kate calls them, are blooming now. Another sure sign that spring is here. We have been enjoying several sunny days here in the 70's so we are slowly thawing out after the winter. But we still have the shovel handy in case we get another shot of snow which has been known to happen here. One of the lines in an upstate NY joke reads "If you often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again, you might live in Upstate New York."

Well, there's been a lot going on around here lately. After many requests to have photos of my artwork and quilts on the website, I've finally created a Gallery Section. Just a portion of the 145 quilts I've made are shown, but it's a start. Hope you enjoy looking!

Last weekend art quilts "Going, Going, Gone - Disappearing Central NY Farmland" and "Behind The Mask" were on display at the CNY Art Guild Radisson Spring Art Show. I am also honored to have "A Nation In Mourning" Quilt selected for a 9/11 Memorial exhibit taking place in the Netherlands at TwentseWelle Museum April- October, 2008. Plus I received notification last week that my recently completed art quilt "ecoBuzz" has been selected as one of 11 finalists in the "Crafting A Better Planet" Competition. Quilts to be judged June 12th, 2008 at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum in Lincoln, NE.

Stay tuned for more photos and news....

Happy Spring!

crocus
March 18th, 2008

The first sign of spring has appeared this week as snow finally melted away and gave way to the crocus plants. Always a welcome sight after 5 months without a lot of color in the landscape. I also spotted some robins and red-winged black birds.

The state of the earth and global warming have been in the news a lot lately. Here at Just Imagine Design, we've been focusing on quilting and it's effect on the environment for a year now. We will be launching a new site in coming months that will be an exciting step in a new direction. Stay tuned for more news about our new site!

Until then, Earth Hour is fast approaching. March 29th from 8-9pm, businesses and individuals around the world will be turning off their lights for one hour in order to raise awareness of climate change and to encourage people to take steps in reducing their carbon footprint. Just Imagine Design took the pledge today and if you would like to find out more information, visit www.earthhour.org.

I also hope you will check out our What's New page to see the products we've recently added and what's on sale!

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Easter.

Peace to All,
Mary Z
